Testing and Monitoring
 |
Assure® Pro
|
|---|
ARKRAY USA
For years, ARKRAY USA has served long-term care (LTC) facilities to meet
blood glucose monitoring needs. From extensive feedback, the Assure® Pro
Blood Glucose Monitoring System was designed to be ideally suited for
multiresident facilities, with features such as top-of-the-meter strip
insertion for ease in sample application and a strip-release button for safe
disposal of used strips. The ProGripTM design allows a secure hold on the
meter and reduces slipping on flat surfaces. Users are pleased with how
comfortable and solid the meter feels. Among the many features is the
qcPro-GuardTM, the first of its kind, 24-hour reminder to conduct control
solution testing as often required in LTC facilities. Other features include a
1-µL sample size, double dosing, a "hypo" warning, and an
adjustable backlight. ARKRAY USA provides comprehensive training, follow-up
service, educational materials, a CEU program, and a fully trained customer
service staff available 24/7. Visit

Sidekick
|
|---|
Home Diagnostics, Inc
The Sidekick's small size makes it extremely portable and convenient and
may encourage people who have diabetes to test their blood glucose levels more
often, thereby helping them better manage their glycemic control. The Sidekick
is easy to use and has all the features of traditional monitors. Unlike other
meters, which require users to calibrate each vial of strips to work with the
meter, the Sidekick requires no coding. The Sidekick requires a small blood
sample (1 µL), gives results in less than 10 seconds, and offers the option
of either forearm or fingertip testing. The Sidekick is simply discarded after
the final test. The Sidekick is available now in pharmacies across the nation
at a retail price of $34.99 with an additional $5 rebate offer. The Sidekick
is less expensive than the cost of purchasing a meter and strips separately
and is covered by Medicare and most Medicaid and private insurance plans. For

Virtual Tracker
|
|---|
HMD Biomedical
Patients can use the Virtual Tracker without any additional hardware; it
uses their existing phone line and stays connected, similar to an answering
machine. There is no need to download any software or have Internet access.
When the patient is ready to download their readings, they simply place their
GlucoLab monitor into the Virtual Tracker cradle. The cradle will recognize
and autosync with the GlucoLab monitor, instantly downloading the readings and
storing them for a future upload to our secure server. At a predetermined
time, the Virtual Tracker will
automatically dial a toll-free number and connect to the Internet through an
internal modem. The readings are then uploaded to a HIPPA secure data bank.
HMD's proprietary software also allows for myriad thresholds to be set for
each unique patient, doctor, managed care organization, supplier, and so
forth. Receiving this real-time data will reduce activity-based costs while
providing a solution for long-term regulatory compliance issues. The readings
will also be archived and remotely accessible anytime by the patient, family
members, DME provider, health care professional, or anyone who has
authorization. For more information, visit
www.hmdbiomed.com.
